WEBSITE INFORMATION & PLAYER PROFILES

New WAVE is proud of our online presence and will attempt to use the website as our primary form of communication throughout the season. Schedules, rosters, basic player profiles and more are maintained on a daily basis.  In addition, players will have their individual pictures displayed on their profile/team page. As part of our Parent/Player Contract, you will agree to allow New WAVE to publish the information on your athlete’s player profile.

MULTI-SPORT/MULTI-ACTIVITY ATHLETES

Please provide your coach with a practice and competition schedule prior to the start of your season. New WAVE programs allow for multi-sport/activity athletes. Practices missed due to an extra-activity school function are excused, but will need to be made up with a different team/age level. The athlete will have the opportunity to make-up a missed practice by attending another team’s practice, in the same week of the missed practice. We ask that you contact your age level Lead Coach to determine which practice is the best to attend.

Players who are involved in other sports or activities will not be disciplined for excused absences. However, it is likely that many absences will result in other members of the team advancing at a faster pace within the team and could affect a player’s playing time through competition at their position.

TEAM PARENT PROGRAM

The “Team Parent” will be a volunteer position for each New WAVE team.

The roles and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Point person to distribute all written correspondence to the team from coach, travel coordinator, booster club or club administrator
  • Recruiter of concession parent workers and coordinate concession work schedules
  • Team phone tree coordinator (with the coach)
  • Serve as in-tournament chaperone at Parent Stay travel events

Interested volunteers that would like to be considered should contact Deidre (ddunbar@newwavevb.org).

WHEN/HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED?

Players that are selected/offered a position at tryouts are not placed on a team, but placed in a pool of athletes that will be further evaluated once the season begins. We do not feel that the tryout process allows ample time to evaluate the player and accurately place them on a team. This process usually takes 2-3 weeks at the beginning of the season when we will have more than one team at an age division. At New WAVE, we start each season with a fresh slate and previous placement does not guarantee a spot going forward, nor does it hinder a player from moving up through the ranks.

CHANGING TEAMS DURING THE SEASON

After your daughter has been placed on a team, New WAVE reserves the right to move them to a different team at any time during the season to continue to improve the level of play for all considered. This means that a player may be added to a team during the season, or that a player may be asked to move to another team to better match the player with the appropriate team.
